INTERACTION SERIES - 2017-2018

These pieces speak to my need to create art with human made debris, once it’s no longer usable, especially plastic. We see an astronomical amount of plastic trash in our oceans, earth and air that according to scientific studies is harming us and our planet. Plastic is chemically toxic. The nameless and named companies making this product are selling it to us and we’re consuming it, throwing it away or trying to recycle it.

These works are the antithesis of natural beauty and were made with wanting to not discard their harmful chemicals into our natural atmosphere.

As you view this portfolio, I engage you the viewer to the dialog of what scientist and professor Robin Wall Kimmerer addresses in her book, “The Serviceberry”; do we only want to live in a market economy where scarcity and commodification dehumanizes or do we want to share and live in a gift economy. Where is the joy in our lives without giving?

Thank you for taking time to see, feel and wonder through this series.
